Established in 1978, Travelling Gallery presents two 16 week contemporary art exhibitions a year which tour remote, rural, urban and suburban communities throughout Scotland.
Our exhibitions display exciting and experimental artistic practices, representative of current social and political themes in both the International and Scottish visual arts sector. Each exhibition is accompanied by a strong creative learning programme of artists talks, workshops and events.
Travelling Gallery is a much loved, established and respected visual arts organisation that is committed to making art inclusive and accessible for all.
Previous commissioned and solo exhibited artists include Dalziel and Scullion (1992); Zoë Walker (1993) (Ross Sinclair (2004), Ilana Halperin (2006), Rachel Maclean (2014) and Lauren Printy Currie (2017).
Previous exhibited artists include Nicolas Party, Tania Kovats, Ciara Phillips, Claire Bishop, Lucy Skaer, Andy Holden, David Sherry, Douglas Gordon, Amalia Pica, Jim Lambie, Henry Combes and Tessa Lynch.
The Travelling Gallery is an extremely worthwhile and useful experience for our pupils who otherwise have very limited access to art galleries and exhibitions, due to our remote location. Thank you! Shetland
