Volunteering with Museums & Galleries Edinburgh is a great way to gain new skills and experiences, learn about museum work, make new friends and provide a valuable contribution to our service.
Museums & Galleries Edinburgh offer a wide range of voluntary roles including visitor engagement, collections care and documentation, historical research, community outreach, schools and learning, gardening, digital and events roles.
Museums & Galleries volunteering opportunities
We are currently looking for new volunteers to assist with activities at our Museum Collections Centre.
Please click on the links below to see full volunteer role descriptions.
If you are interested in either of these roles, please complete a Volunteer Application form and send to MuseumsVolunteering@edinburgh.gov.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 07 May.
Please note that some of our volunteer roles attract a high number of applicants. When deciding between candidates with similar levels of interest, enthusiasm and experience, preference will be given to candidates who live, work or study in Edinburgh. As a local authority museum service, our first duty is to the people of Edinburgh and so we aim to ensure that they have the best access to our volunteering opportunities.
