For this gallery performance, past and present members of the Ladies’ Edinburgh Debating Society and invited guests will gather to honour the founding member of their society: Sarah Elizabeth Siddons Mair. They will reminisce about the different approaches which were taken to achieve female suffrage and discuss the relative success of the various strategies. The performance will be given by a group of costumed volunteer performers, Edinburgh Living History who have been inspired by the painting of suffragist Sarah Elizabeth Siddons Mair in the exhibition.
