For Black History Month in October 2018 The Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) and the City Art Centre would like to invite you to a series of afternoon talks that will give an insight into Scotland’s history. The talks are free and take place at The City Art Centre

The story of the 900 Belizean lumberjacks who in 1942 left the tropical rainforests of British Honduras to help Britain fight fascism by felling trees in Scotland. Sam, Eric and Amos were among those who stayed on after the war to make new lives in a country where, for better or worse, the colour of their skin marked them out. Film maker Sana Belgrani and Author Kamala Santos will screen this lyrical and moving documentary and talk about how the story got to screen. Film maker Yutsil Martinez will share a more personal perspective from recordings he made of his grandfather Sam Martinez
