For this two-part video workshop artist Tessa Asquith-Lamb will consider elements of pattern in artworks from the exhibition ‘Incoming: New Acquisitions at the City Art Centre' and how they draw the eye into compositions. In the first video we will consider several artworks from the exhibition in terms of textures and patterns and how these are used by artists to create interest and areas of focus in their works. In the second video we will create repeating patterns using natural materials as a starting point. Collecting leaves and flowers from which to draw and print using inks and paints we will create a collaged artwork with a variety of textural surfaces.
