In this event, sculptor, community artist and archive activist Fiona Sanderson will speak about Dr Beatrice Garvie, one of the photographers featured in Glean: Early 20th Century Women Filmmakers and Photographers in Scotland. Dr Garvie was medical doctor for North Ronaldsay, Orkney, in the 1930’s and ‘40s. Over the last five years, Sanderson has researched Dr Garvie’s photography which uniquely captured island life. It is part of a wider body of work which Sanderson has begun to return island knowledge to the place it came from.

This event is in partnership with The Audacious Women Festival. The festival has run since 2016. 6.
