During 2022, the Edinburgh Caribbean Association collaborated with staff at Museum & Galleries Edinburgh to create an exhibition called Respect! Caribbean Life in Edinburgh. Although the Caribbean has had centuries of connection with Scotland, much of it painful, we decided to focus on the lives of people in the Caribbean community living in Edinburgh today. We focused on the collections at the Museum of Childhood and used poetry and activity workshops to explore and discuss common and contrasting experiences of childhood in the Caribbean and in Edinburgh. During this online tour Lisa will highlight the diversity of the Caribbean region and celebrate the contributions that Caribbean people have made and continue to make to Edinburgh's society and culture.

Lisa Williams is the founder of the Edinburgh Caribbean Association and curates education programmes, arts events and walking tours to promote the shared heritage between Scotland and the Caribbean and the possiblities of decolonising and anti-racist practice. She is a PhD candidate in the School of Art History at the University of St Andrews and an Honorary Fellow in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. She works as a consultant to heritage organisations across Scotland.
