We don’t have guided tours, but there is information throughout the Museum to help you explore our collections.
School visits are welcome. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
The Museum is wheelchair accessible on the ground and first floors. We also have toilet facilities for disabled visitors.
If you would like to take photographs, please let one of our customer assistants know. They will give you our brief guidelines on photography in our museums.
Children will find lots to look at and listen to at The People’s Story. For hands-on activities, families can visit our Family Activity space at the Museum of Edinburgh. This is just across the road from The People’s Story.
We will do our best to help you if you have a small pram or buggy you wish to park at The People’s Story.
We are not able to store luggage for you at the Museum. The nearest luggage storage facility is at Waverley Station.
At the moment we only have information in English.
Limited ‘Pay and Display’ parking is available near the Museum. The best option may be to use the car park at St John’s Hill.
The Royal Mile has many cafés, restaurants, pubs and take-away lunch options.
The Museum of Edinburgh (across the road from The People’s Story) has a room that may be available for groups to eat packed lunches in. This must be booked in advance by telephoning the venue.
