Edinburgh was the first city ever to host the Commonwealth Games twice and in 2014, when both the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup are being held in Scotland, the Museum of Edinburgh will host an exhibition exploring the city’s long association with sport.
Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm; Sunday 12pm - 5pm during August only
Who is this for? -
Dates: 5 July 2014 - 29 November 2014
Treasures from the museum’s sporting collection will be on display along with a number of stunning loan items which together showcase Edinburgh’s colourful sporting past.
This dynamic exhibition explores what it means to be a player or sports fan in Edinburgh, past and present, and how sport in the city continues to evolve. It highlights current programmes to engage people, especially the young, with sport and celebrates the active contribution that local sports groups and organisations make to the capital’s sporting scene.
