Festival of Museums Weekend supports and is inspired by the Edinburgh Alphabet exhibition.

10.30am - 12.30pm

Make Your Drawings Move
A family animation session creating ‘old school’ animated sequences. We will use a 19th century-inspired optical viewing device called a 'Zoetrope' to see our drawings magically spring to life! (Please note: modern technology will be used sparingly!).
Suitable for ages 8+ (adult supervision required).
No need to book just drop in.  FREE

10.30am - 12.30pm or 1.30pm - 4pm
Your Teddy Takes a Walk
Cartoon drawing sessions for the whole family.  Visit the City Art Centre with your special toy and have a portrait drawn by ‘The Broons’ and ‘Oor Wullie’ artist Stephen White, against the backdrop of some of the City's most famous and iconic buildings.
No need to book, just drop in. FREE

1.30pm - 4pm
Illusion of Life
Join us in this family animation class as we create 'old school' animated sequences.  From our 2D hand-drawn sequences we will create a flipbook and construct a 19th century-inspired optical viewing device called a 'Praxinoscope' to give our drawings the 'illusion of life'.
Class is FREE and suitable for ages 8+

2pm - 3pm
Dressed in the A-Z
Fashion show from Edinburgh College Fashion and Textile students.  The process of exploring, experimenting, applying and realising art and design ideas has been integral to the work produced for their final major project garments.  With such a diverse, rich and varied range of objects to explore, the city's heritage is a creative's treasure trove.

Newhaven Community Choir
Be absolutely delighted by the glorious voices of Newhaven Community Choir who will perform for you in the gallery.

An Edwardian Affair
Capture the echoes of genteel Edwardian Edinburgh and join us for an Edwardian themed afternoon tea, served by our costumed performers from Edinburgh Living Heritage.

“But Edinburgh is a Mad God's Dream..... “ - Pub Quiz Night
Come along for a very special evening, our very first pub quiz in the City Art Centre. Test your knowledge of the City’s history with quizmaster extraordinaire Dave Albury.  A complimentary glass of wine beer or prosecco will be given as part of the ticket. Bring your own bottle.
£5 per person or £15 for a team of 4
