A talk on how Calton Hill reflects the intellectual, cultural and democratic history of Scotland's capital.

Stuart McHardy is an author, storyteller. lecturer, poet and musician. His three dozen published books (to date) reflect many aspects of Scottish tradition and history inspired by his love of his native land and its multifarious stories. These publications include works on history, folklore and, purely out of a sense of public service, The Edinburgh and Leith Pub Guide (two editions to date with a third mooted). A native of Dundee, he has lived most of his adult life in the capital since coming here as a student in the 1960s, and he continues to find the place inspirational.
