Craigievar Castle in Aberdeenshire is amongst the best preserved and the most loved in Scotland.

The Forbes family lived there for 350 years and when it was presented to the National Trust for Scotland in 1963, it came complete with the vast majority of the contents, collected and lovingly preserved over the centuries by the family.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the gift, and the Chief Curator Emeritus of the Trust, Ian Gow, will talk about this picture perfect castle in the care of Scotland’s foremost conservation charity.

Ian Gow was appointed Curator of the National Trust for Scotland in 1998 and recently the Trust’s Chief Curator Emeritus in 2013. He has written extensively on the decorative arts and architecture of Scotland and in addition to many guide books and articles is the author of The Scottish Interior, Scotland’s Lost Houses and Scottish Houses and Gardens from the Archives of Country Life.
